You’ve rallied the crew, booked the accommodations, and planned your next mountain bike trip to the BC Rockies. Now all that’s left is choosing where to ride. Easy enough until you open Trailforks and realize the East Kootenay region is packed with endless singletrack, and hidden gems. That’s where riding with a pro comes in. From dialing in skills and building confidence to finding the best dirt in Kimberley, Cranbrook, and Fernie. Mountain bike coaching helps you spend less time guessing and more time progressing, and having fun on the trail.

Read on to learn 5 reasons you’ll want to ride with a coach/guide on your next BC biking adventure.

1. Ride new trails with confidence

Ride new trails with confidence alongside a coach who knows the terrain. Our guides and coaches can match routes to your ability level. Instead of second-guessing features, getting turned around, or ending up on trails that are over your head. You’ll have expert support every step of the ride. A coach can help you navigate technical sections, choose smarter lines, build skills on the go. You’ll gain the confidence to try trails you may have skipped otherwise. It’s the fastest way to feel comfortable in unfamiliar terrain while having way more fun doing it.

2. Progress faster with personalized feedback

We offer small group sizes and private lessons. It’s the perfect way to progress with feedback tailored to your riding style, goals, and experience level. Choose to work on cornering, technical climbs, jumps, or simply feeling more confident on the trails. Our coaches break skills down into approachable steps that help you improve faster. With real-time tips, sessioning, and encouragement, you’ll gain confidence and learn new maneuvers.

3. Learn geological features and flora and fauna of the region

Learn about the geological features, flora, and fauna of the region while you ride. Our coaches and guides know the trails beyond the dirt. From unique rock formations and alpine ecosystems to local wildlife, wildflowers, and hidden viewpoints you could ride right past. Riding with a local guide adds another layer to the experience. It helps you connect with the landscape while discovering what makes the East Kootenays such an amazing place to play.

4. Ride safer

Our coaches do more than lead the way and clear the cobwebs. We’re trained to manage risk, adapt routes, and help riders stay within their comfort zone while progressing. Whether you’re navigating technical terrain, or weather, having an experienced guide adds an extra layer of confidence to your ride.

We also carry (some) of the gear, so you don’t have to. From tools and extra supplies to first aid essentials, we pack the bag and come prepared. You’ll need to make sure you have lots of water, a snack, tire puncture supplies, and a spare tube. Our team has Wilderness First Aid, so if things don’t go to plan, you’re riding with the right people.

5. Spend more time riding and less time route-wrangling

Want to know which trails are riding best this season? Our experienced coaches will help you level up your skills and guide you to the right terrain. No more wasting a ride day on blown-out climbs, mystery tech, or trails your crew secretly hates.

We handle the planning, route finding, and navigation so you can focus on what matters. Good dirt, good company, and a seriously fun ride. We’re also in the know on the best après spots in town.

Riding with a coach helps you get more out of the ride – every time. You’ll discover new trails, build confidence, and progress your skills. Spend less time stressing about logistics and more time soaking in the experience. The BC Rockies are best explored with someone who knows the terrain and loves sharing it with you.

You bring the stoke, we’ll bring the route, the coaching, and the good times. You can just enjoy the best dirt that the BC Rockies has to offer.
