About us

Our Mission

There’s something so freeing about that feeling of conquering a rough technical trail, or releasing the weight of the world through a corner, that excitement as soon as your two wheels leave the ground, or just that pure joy from coasting in the wide open. This passion is what we want to share with everyone through our inclusive and progressive mountain bike programs.

Ridetheory is based in the East Kootenay Region of BC, operating in Fernie, Kimberley and Cranbrook. We acknowledge that the land on which we ride is the traditional unceded territory of the Ktunaxa Peoples.

Ridetheory offers diverse instruction and coaching for all ages, skill levels and disciplines. Regardless of whether we’re talking about our introductory lessons or our competition development programs, we put a huge emphasis on having fun because that’s what builds passion, community, and long-term commitment. Our dedicated team is here to ensure you get the highest quality of instruction and inclusive programming to help you take your riding to wherever you want to go.

We also recognize the importance of respecting the trails. Without the hard work and dedication of trail builders, volunteers, local mountain bike clubs and associations and land owners who grant us permission to use their property, we wouldn’t have the chance to ride and grow in this beautiful community.

Spanning between the Purcells and Rocky Mountains, the East Kootenay region is home to a diverse community of outdoor enthusiasts and boasts classic singletrack, exciting downhill, and world-class bike parks that are marked by the passion of the builders and trail stewards that have made this place so special. Our trails that have been featured in races such as the Trans BC Enduro and TransRockies and with hundreds of kilometers of unique trail flavours in each town, it’s a great place to ride and thrive on two wheels.

Why Choose a Guided Ride?

Ride with a guide who knows the best singletrack, current trail conditions, and hidden gems in Fernie, Cranbrook, and Kimberley. We’ll match the ride to your ability, pace, and goals, so you spend less time looking at maps and more time enjoying the trails. Along the way, you’ll pick up riding tips, local knowledge, and the confidence to explore more of British Columbia’s incredible mountain bike terrain. Guieded rides are available to groups and individual mountain bikers.

What Happens if it Rains, or There is Wildfire Smoke?

Mountain biking can still be fun in light rain, but rider safety and trail conditions always come first. If severe weather, unsafe trail conditions, poor air quality, or trail closures affect your session, we’ll contact you as soon as possible to discuss rescheduling or alternative options.
